Discover the Ins and Outs of a Busy Day on the Farm

Welcome to another day on the farm, where the work never stops. Today, we’re getting a head start on planting soybeans before the rain sets in. Travis, our hardworking farmer, is on a mission to finish the soybean planting before the next downpour.

The morning showers left the fields damp, but not soaked, providing the perfect window of opportunity to get planting done. Travis wasted no time pulling ten acres into the barns at Rockville Farm to avoid any potential damage from the rain. With the rain expected to return the next day, our goal is to finish planting the beans today and move on to planting corn without any delays.

Last year, we faced some challenges with delayed planting due to excessive rain, causing the crops to not dry down properly. This year, we are determined to stay ahead of the weather and get everything planted in a timely manner. Despite the looming rain forecast for tomorrow, we are pushing through to ensure we finish the beans today.

Travis heads to Lancaster with a load of hay as I start greasing the planter. Proper maintenance is crucial to the smooth operation of the equipment. I go through the planner, greasing all the necessary parts to ensure everything runs smoothly.

As Travis gets started on planting, I work on greasing the VT, another essential piece of equipment for planting. The VT requires precision greasing to ensure proper functionality and seed placement. I make sure to use quality WD-40 specialist multi-purpose grease, easily accessible from Ace Hardware.

With the equipment greased and ready to go, Travis begins planting as I keep a close eye on the progress. Everything seems to be running smoothly, and we are making good progress with less than 60 acres of beans left to plant.

As the sun sets, we continue planting into the evening hours, determined to finish before nightfall. Travis is almost done with a strip left at his place, and we are optimistic about planting corn as early as tomorrow morning.

Despite running low on seed, we manage to find a solution and keep the planting going. With teamwork and determination, we wrap up the soybean planting for the day, ready to tackle whatever challenges tomorrow brings.

As we prepare for potential severe thunderstorms the next day, we reflect on a productive day on the farm. Stay tuned for more updates on our planting progress and the exciting adventures of plant 2020.
