How to Grow Yam in Canada: A Step-by-Step Guide

Welcome back to Tati’s Garden! Today, I’m going to show you how to grow yam right here in Canada. Did you know that yam grows here? Follow along as we embark on this exciting journey together.

Starting with just one sprouted yam, it kept growing and growing until it was time to transplant it for more space to thrive. When transplanting yams, it’s crucial not to disturb the roots too much, as they don’t like being moved. I transferred mine from a newspaper wrap to a bag for its new home.

For this project, I’ll be using a sack as the mama sap for the transplant. Now, as we enter summer, the bag is placed outside where it will stay for the next two to three months. Stay tuned for the second part of this series, where we’ll see the progress of our yam plant.
